About Spirited Cart

What Spirited Cart is

Spirited Cart is a small, gift-led liquor shelf. It carries a deliberately short list of spirits and wine chosen because they work when a bottle changes hands: a thank-you, a wedding year, a holiday table, a neighbour who looked after the house for a fortnight. The range is mixed rather than specialised, because the person you are buying for rarely drinks only one thing. Dry red wine and dated Champagne sit beside aged tequila, gin and chilled sake on the same page.

How the shelf is arranged

Two categories organise everything here. Gift Bottles holds wine and sparkling wine, where the region, the year or the blend does most of the talking. Gift Spirits holds distilled bottles that keep well once opened and read as a considered present. Each listing carries the same four specifications — origin, ABV, volume and how the bottle is best served — so a forty-dollar Bordeaux can be weighed against a forty-six dollar sake without guesswork.

What we write, and what we do not

Product descriptions on this site describe the category and the style: what a reposado is, how a junmai ginjo is brewed, what a printed vintage means on a sparkling wine label. They do not carry invented scores, medals or certification marks, and this store does not publish reviews it has not collected. If a claim cannot be checked against the label in front of you, it does not belong on the page. Tasting notes describe the ordinary characteristics of a style and are a starting point, not a promise about what you will smell.

Choosing and sending a gift

Choose the bottle, then plan the handover. Alcohol orders require an age check at checkout and an adult signature on delivery, so a parcel cannot be left at a door. Deliveries go to addresses that can accept a signature during normal working hours, and a tracking number goes out when the order leaves. The two guides on this site answer the questions we are asked most often: which bottle to pick, and how a bottle survives the journey once it is packed.

Keeping a bottle until you give it

If you buy early, store the bottle the way a shop would. Wine closed with a natural cork is happiest lying down so the cork stays wet; spirits with a cork or a screw cap can stand upright for years without suffering. Keep everything out of direct light and away from radiators, ovens and rooms that swing between hot and cold. Sparkling wine dislikes being moved around, so pick a cool, dark corner and leave it there. A cupboard under a staircase is a better home than a shelf above a stove.

Age, law and the operator record

This store sells only to customers aged 21 and over. Government-issued identification is required at checkout and again at delivery, and an order that cannot be verified is cancelled and refunded. California residents should read the Proposition 65 notice linked in the footer.Registered business details and alcohol licence information are available on request from customer support.

Drinking responsibly

Nothing on this site is a reason to drink more than you intended. Spirits above 40 per cent ABV are served in small measures, and a standard drink is roughly fourteen grams of pure alcohol — about 45 ml of a 40 per cent spirit, 150 ml of wine or 350 ml of beer. If you or someone you are buying for needs support, the SAMHSA National Helpline is free and available around the clock on 1-800-662-4357.
